Oh, Canada! Foodie Reading Zone... and Strawberry-Spinach Salad Encore

Today, is my husband's last day of paid vacation. We wore ourselves out, driving to Cambria on Wednesday. So, today, we decided to stick close to home. We went for our morning swimming exercise, and now...

It's time for me to catch up on a lot of foodie magazines (and cookbooks, from my library) that I've been too busy to read. This isn't the half of it! I have an online subscription to my favorite magazine-- "Fine Cooking", and "Cook's Illustrated". Still... I am so far behind-- and I seriously need to stop renewing subscriptions. Who needs them, now that food blogs have become my favorite way (and addiction) to find new recipes?

I have not watched any daytime television! In fact, I still have Grey's Anatomy's season finale half watched! I'm too busy reading your blogs, I tell you!

I promised myself I would stick to reading and decluttering, today-- so that means editing my many photos of the Cambria gardens, our wonderful lunch and the ocean will have to wait.

Here's my #2 most viewed recipe, from GOOGLE "search" -- Strawberry-Spinach Salad. I have to make this, very soon. The dressing is the star, in my book. Plus, I think it's pretty.

One last thing-- my "first giveaway" for a canning kit, and two more winners of my homemade jam (olallieberry is the unanimous request). I feel bad that I excluded our northern neighbor-- Canada. Because I have so many wonderful Food Bloggers, from Canada, I checked with the United States Post Office. I found out it would only cost a couple of extra US bucks to ship jam to Canada (not Priority Mail, but first class), and I did not have the customs restrictions I feared. So, Canada, I retract my limitations to ship only within the United States! For that very reason, c'mon over and enter to win-- if you'd like to win my homemade olallieberry jam. For those of you who never heard of them-- The olallieberry (pronounced oh-la-leh, sometimes spelled ollalieberry, olallaberry, olalliberry, ollalaberry or ollaliberry) is a cross between the loganberry and the youngberry, each of which is itself a cross between blackberry and another berry (raspberry and dewberry, respectively). I think they taste like a blackberry-raspberry. Delicious!

Unfortunately, I cannot ship the canning kit to Canada, from the company that Amazon uses. The shipping is too high, or I certainly would!

One entry per person, and entries will close at midnight tomorrow, Saturday July 11th.I will announce the winner on Monday, July 13th.

Good luck and I hope you're enjoying good summer weather,
